How to Fix Disable write-protected Error on Pendrive

If you are trying to format your pen drive and disable write-protected error while formatting Pendrive This error is illiterate because you can not do anything with your Pendrive. Now you are wondering what is the cause of this error.

Why is there a write-protected error in Pendrive?


  • This error can be caused by software issues.
  • It can also happen when your Pendrew has some physical damage.
  • This can happen even when there is a dangerous virus in your Pendrive.


Steps:

 1. Scan your Pendrive with anti-virus

If your problem is normal then your error will disappear after scanning, this is a very easy way to remove such error. If you are still getting the same error then you can try the next method.


 2. Check User Account Settings

You should check user account settings Some settings are configured to not allow enough storage of storage devices. So, you can follow the steps below to check it.

  • Open my computer and open Pendrive's open properties.
  • Then go to the Security tab and check that everything is bad.
  • If you have seen that some options are not selected, just tick it or enable it
  • After this, your problem will be solved.

 3 Format pen drive

However, there may be some possibilities when you will not be able to resolve with the above methods. Now select the file system as NTFS and try to format the pen drive. If your pen drive is successfully formatted with it, then select the file system FAT32 (default).

  • Open your computer
  • Right-click on your Pendrive and file system as NTFS
  • Then format Pendrive.

4. Disable Write-protected by Registry Editor

If you are still getting this error then you can try to disable Registry Editor. Follow the steps below to do this.

  • Open run, press the Windows + R button at the same time.
  • Then type regedit and click OK.
  • Now, follow it
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Control \ StorageDevicePolicies
  • After this, click on Write-protected twice.
  • Then change the value from 1 to 0 and click OK.
  • Remove your pen drive and restart your pc.

5. Disable Write-protected Error by Command Prompt

Some ways will work for someone else. However, if you still get this error, then I have the last method to disable that error.

  • Just open your run and type CMD.
  • Now, type diskSPart and press Enter.
  • Type the list volume and press enter.
  • Type select volume A, A is volume label.
  • Type the attributes disk cleaner randomly, then your write-protected will be disabled.
  • Then type EXIT and press Enter.
