Is your dumbbell laptop's keyboard not responding to your click and you're looking for a quick solution to fix it? Then it is sure that you are definitely in the right place;
Unresponsive keyboards in your laptop are mainly the result of problems with Drivers keyboard drivers. Even viruses and worms sometimes even prevent the default keyboard of your laptop from working.
And if the software fixing part cannot fix your PC, then the problem may be related to hardware such as cable damage, connector problem or something like that.
Thankfully that happens only in rare cases and most of the time, the problem is related to the bad corrupted driver of your keyboard. Most of the software and hardware related issues in your laptop that have restrictions on your keyboard's functionality can be easily fixed by yourself. You will need to reinstall the damaged driver for your keyboard or clean the connectors or reconnect the cables and it will restore the normal functioning of your laptop's keyboard.
# First Thing To Do - Reinstall the Keyboard Drivers;
A corrupted driver is one of the main reasons for the unresponsive keyboard on the laptop. Keyboard Drivers can run in problems due to third-party apps, which you have recently installed.
A virus can damage the drivers and it will stop working on your keyboard. Even, switching laptops without using the shutdown button can damage OS and drivers too.
You can fix all this by reinstalling drivers for your keyboard. This is a very easy process and you will be able to do this in a few minutes.
Here's how you can do this;
- Go to the Start menu and search for 'devmgmt' to open Device Manager.
- Click on the 'keyboard' option to expand the section.
- You can get yellow exclamation points for some time near the items in this section. This indicates a problem and you can click on it to know more about it.
- If there is no trail, just right-click on your keyboard name. A menu will now appear.
- Click on 'Uninstall' option here.
- This will remove the drivers for your keyboard. After that, restart your computer.
- After reboot, your laptop will detect Windows keyboard and automatically start installing the appropriate drivers. This will fix the problem.
In some cases, this process can not work and after uninstalling the driver, you can not even find a keyboard icon in Device Manager.
If you do not find the keyboard icon in Device Manager Head, then go straight to your laptop's support page and download the driver for your keyboard. Or do you use Windows Update
If the installation of the driver is not working for you, then I recommend that you check that the problem is related to the hardware. The best way of hardware behind the problem you are facing is to plug in an external USB keyboard.
If the externally attached keyboard is working properly, then surely your laptop has some hardware issues. Just go to the next method to fix the hardware on your laptop that could be the cause of the problem.
# Clear the keyboard ribbon and connector
Clean the keyboard ribbon and connector (which is located on the motherboard), and then reconnect the keyboard to the motherboard. This problem can be easily solved in a short time (only if you know how to separate the laptop Have to take it).
However, before moving forward, keep in mind that the connectors and other internal components of the laptop are very delicate and one can easily make the situation worse if it does not take enough caution.
The locking clip that holds the keyboard cable is made of very thin plastic and if you are not comfortable enough then it will easily get spoiled. This component is not sold individually and you need to change the whole thing which can be really expensive.
To clean the cable and connector, you have to separate the laptop. But disabling laptops is a daunting task and you may find it hard enough. If you have not done this before, then I recommend that you check out a video that displays some laptops on YouTube. Make sure you search for unsatisfied videos according to your laptop model to make things so easy.
Once you are done with disassembling, you will need to take out the keyboard by disconnecting the cables. For this, you need to move the successor towards the top. Be very soft and do not put any pressure. Now drag the cable to disconnect the keyboard from the motherboard.
To remove any corrosion from the metal contact of the ribbon, use a pencil eraser. After that, use '100% Isopropyl Alcohol' to clean the connector. Just pour some drops of alcohol and then take help of an ultralight toothbrush to remove any dirt and rust
Now connect the keyboard again and check whether it is working properly or not. Gather the laptop and then check the issues. Your keyboard will now work properly This problem was related to cable and connector.
