What is IC or Integrated Circuit?

An integrated circuit or IC is an electronic component made up of a combination of several transistors, diodes, resistant, capacitors in a small semiconductor chip. Integrated circuit electronic component or IC is small size and very lightweight. They produce excellent results on less power.

I have divided this tutorial into several small sections for easy reading and understanding. Read these sections to learn the basics on IC and how it works.

What is IC made up

The components used in the IC are not visible from the outside. These are made in the semiconductor chip and they can not be removed. The capacitors are not used in more than 30 PF value in the IC, nor can the interactor and transformer be rotated inside the IC chip. Types of Integrated Circuits (IC)

Based on the external structure, the ICS or SMD can be classified as follows:

• Single In-Line Pin Package (SIPP)
• Dual in-line pin package (DIPP).
• Quad pin package.
• Pin grid array package (PGA).
• Ball Grid Array Package (BGA).
• Leadless Chip Carrier (LCC) package.

BGA IC - Ball Grid Array

Without PIN, the IC is used in mobile phones called Ball Grid Array (BGA). To count the number of pins in the BGA IC, there is a circular point mark on top of a corner, or a deep circular mark. The ball grid array is placed on the palm in such a way that the spherical mark can withstand the thumb below. Read: Count of leg or pin of IC

Types of Integrated Circuits (IC) Based on Technology

There are two types of ICs on the basis of technology:

• Linear IC - This type of IC works on an analog signal where the output signal varies according to a variable input signal.
• Digital IC - This type of IC works on digital signals. The defined output signal is derived from a defined input signal. Depending on the used electronic components, there are different types of digital ICs.

Examples of digital ICs - CMOS (complimentary metal oxide semiconductor), DSP (digital signal processor), DRAM (dynamic random access memory), ROM (read-only memory), prom (programmable read only memory)
