How to Flash Firmware on Samsung Galaxy J4
If you have downloaded the correct stock ROM for your device, then you are ready to flash the Galaxy J4 flash file yourself. Installing the official stock ROM on Samsung Galaxy J4, using Odin Flash Tool, is really a very easy task.But before reading the earlier requirements and caution below.
Disclaimer / Warning: Flashing firmware on Galaxy J4 will not void the warranty of the phone because it is an official method of flashing firmware on any Samsung device. But this is an unofficial process and thus you need to be cautious. On the other hand, the Samsung J4 Android Orao firmware is safe to flash, but one wrong step can brick permanently to the device. So do it at your own risk.
The last most important thing to know, the firmware that shines on the J4 will completely erase all user data and phone data. So do not forget to back up your precious data before the flashing process. Otherwise, you can restore it again.
Pre-requisites for installing stock ROM on Samsung Galaxy J4 smartphone

Instructions to Flash Samsung J4 Stock ROM [J4 Flash File]
To install stock ROM / firmware on the Samsung Galaxy J4, there should be a free odin flash tool. Odin Flash Tool is a universal firmware tool for all Samsung devices, including tablets.
- Download the Samsung J4 Official Firmware or Flash File from the Download section above. But make sure you are flashing the appropriate firmware according to the device model and build number.
- Extract the Galaxy J4 firmware file downloaded on PC. Here you will see 4 files in the firmware folder. [Firmware file can be one of several, it depends on device]

Here you will see a warning message, just ignore it and press the volume button to enter the downloading mode.

Condition 01 If you have a .tar / .tar.md5 file, then click on the "AP" or "PDA" option and load the firmware file into the Odin software.
Condition02 If you have many files [.tar / .tar.md5 file] in the firmware file, then you have to load all the available files in the appropriate section.
For example - Firmware with separate files starting with A, CSE, Home_CSC, BL, CP etc., then load them as shown below.
- Download the latest ODG flash tool, remove the zip file and launch the Odin.exe setup file as admin to launch it on a Windows PC.
- Now come to the device and enable USB debugging and OEM lock by following the guide. [if possible. If you are unable to access your device, skip this step]
- Boot Downloading Mode or Odin Mode in Samsung Galaxy J4
Here you will see a warning message, just ignore it and press the volume button to enter the downloading mode.

- Attach device with PC via working USB cable. It is necessary to flash the firmware directly from the PC on your device.
- Open Odin Flash Tool again. If the device is properly connected to the PC, Odin will automatically detect the device. At the same time, you can see the "Added" message in the log window in the lower left section and the first box under the ID: COM will also show a number and blue will make its background.
- This time you have to configure it properly. Be careful with the ODIN software and apply the changes as shown below.
- Next, load the firmware files in the appropriate section. Actually it depends on the files of your firmware.
Condition 01 If you have a .tar / .tar.md5 file, then click on the "AP" or "PDA" option and load the firmware file into the Odin software.
Condition02 If you have many files [.tar / .tar.md5 file] in the firmware file, then you have to load all the available files in the appropriate section.
For example - Firmware with separate files starting with A, CSE, Home_CSC, BL, CP etc., then load them as shown below.
- Click on "BL" button and load file that starts with "BL" text.
- Click on the "AP" button, and the load file, starting with the "AP" text.
- Click the "CP" button and load file that starts with "CP" text.
- Click the "CSC" button and click on the load file, starting with "Home_CSC" text. Otherwise, load the CSC file.
- Now check everything again. If all the sets are done, hit the "Start" button from the Odin tool and flash the firmware on the Samsung Galaxy J4 mobile.
- Once the flashing process begins, you will see the entire flashing process in the Odin log window and at the end of the successful flashing will show the green "pass" message on this tool.
- The device will reboot automatically and after firmware flashing it can take a long time to reboot on its first normal boot. So sit back and wait for normal boots.
- done!!!! You have successfully installed Android Oreo firmware on Samsung Galaxy J4 using Odin.
- ODIN Stuck: If the Odin tool gets stuck in the flashing process or before the process, then close it properly, follow the instructions above and launch it again as Administrator and Flash firmware.
- Odin Fail: If you get a "Fail" message after flashing the flowers, check the firmware compatibility and repeat the process again correctly. Sometimes it may be due to un-supported firmware or it may be that the device is not properly detected.
